Volunteer
It is not too late to volunteer for the 2009 Fringe! We still have shifts available and would be happy to meet you. Please call the volunteer centre at 250-590-4205 or drop by during Volunteer Centre Hours (listed below.)
We need hundreds of volunteers to help us distribute Fringe info, sell tickets, staff our ticket hotlines, check in artists, be festival couriers! There are loads of fun and challenging volunteer positions to choose from.
We ask you to do a minimum of three shifts during the festival. We provide training, orientation, and support in the area of your choice. You'll get to meet lots of people and receive special vollie perks including free tickets for festival shows, access to special Volunteer Appreciation shows, and an invite to the Fringe Wrap Party and Volunteer Awards. It's a great way to use or improve your skills, meet new friends and experience a fun and exciting festival from the inside.

Billeting
Whoo hoo! With your help, we have billeted all the visiting performers and technicians of this year's festival! Thanks you so, so much to everyone who helped us out this year - you rock! Your uncommon generosity helps make this Fringe an international destination for touring artists. Are you interested in hosting an artist next year and joining the ranks of the awesome? Read the information below and fill out the online form - we will contact you in early summer of 2010 about next year's fringe!
********
Don’t have time to volunteer, but love the Fringe and want to get involved (and get free tickets)? Then billeting is for you! This year around 100 touring Fringe artists from other parts of Canada and around the world will need a place to call home while performing at the Victoria Fringe. We rely of generous Victorians who open their homes and allow Fringe performers to stay in their spare room, bed or couch.
To show out thanks, billeting households receive a Fringe superpass or 10 Fringebucks so you can take a friend. This is a great way to enhance your Fringe experience (and make it free!) and meet someone cool along the way.
Hear it from someone first-hand! Missie Peters, a Fringer who has billeted before talks about her experience hosting Australian performer Jonno Katz last year:
"I wanted to become more involved in the fringe and decided to billet as it brought the Fringe literally into my home. I thought that sharing our house with an actor would be a great experience.
Jonno was hardly ever around – he was either out promoting, performing or out at the Fringe Club, so it wasn’t a huge impact space-wise, but he did provide a great insight into the Fringe - he had the inside scoop on all these shows he had seen all over the country, so we sat down with the program and he went through all his picks.
It was wonderful to help someone who really needed a place to stay and I experienced the Fringe so much more fully because he was in my house - not only did it remind me that certain shows were on, but it was incredible to go along to see his show after getting to know him all week. Knowing a performer meant that I really felt a part of the Fringe rather than just a patron who went along to a few shows and I was happily excited that I got free tickets too!"
