The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac
You get excitable about art. You enjoy live performance that's exuberant, entertaining, and whip-smart (yes, sometimes it stings when you laugh). By current federal government standards, this makes you an Extraordinary Canadian, and our January - March 2009 Season is specially designed to zap you and your extraordinary friends out of the winter blahs. In the Metro Studio: the funny-sexy-dance-theatre work Elegant Heathens from Montreal's Trial & Eros (shown above, co-presented by Suddenly Dance Theatre), New York cabaret sensation Taylor Mac (pictured here), Pick-of-Fringe Comedy Winners The Cody Rivers Show and Die Roten Punkte, and Atomic Vaudeville's Legoland sequel, Ride The Cyclone - a new musical by Jacob Richmond. At the new Intrepid Theatre Club, get up-close and personal with The Glass Box - Theatre Terrific's brand new play about sexuality and disability; then brace yourself for laughter and tears as Bruce Horak introduces you to the world's most unlikeable leading man in This is Cancer! Extraordinary Generosity
Intrepid Theatre presents a world-class indie theatre season in Victoria, while also producing the Victoria Fringe and Uno Fest, and founding and operating two downtown venues. In 2008, we served up 35,000 individual servings of fresh performing arts to theatregoers at very reasonable prices...including free events and pay-what-you-can opening nights. We do all this without running a deficit (yay!) but it's only because we spend a lot of time fundraising to make our programs possible and importantly, accessible to the widest possible audience. That's why, if you're able, we'd like you to to consider making a one-time or monthly donation to Intrepid Theatre, through Canada Helps. It's quick and easy, and we're a charity, so you'll get a tax receipt. No amount is too small. To donate, click here.
