CIRCA Sold Out! :(
Free Circus Workshop Scheduled! :)

The bad news first: there's not a single ticket left for 46 Circus Acts in 45 Minutes. It's totally, completely sold out, even if you have a Metropass. Even I don't have tickets.

The GREAT news is that Intrepid Theatre will host a FREE Circus workshop with the CIRCA ensemble from Australia, from 11:30 am - 1 pm on Friday  Jan 18. (Register for location - call Intrepid at 383-2663)

Circa has a unique vision of circus as a delightful, challenging and contemporary artform. Its committed ensemble of multi-skilled performers work year round to explore and extend the limits of what circus can do.

Participants will work with Circa ensemble members on not only circus skills but also ways of deconstructing and reinvigorating these skills, through improvisation to seek out new physical languages and forms of theatrical expression.

90 minutes. All levels and ages welcome.

Only 25 spaces available, first-come, first served.

You MUST pre-register with Intrepid at (250)383-2663 (do not email!) in advance if you want to attend. Please act quickly!

Instructions for Modern Living
Duncan Sarkies & Nic McGowan, NEW ZEALAND

Jan 24-26, 8 pm at the Metro Studio (1411 Quadra, Victoria)

Intrepid Theatre follows up their blockbuster 08 season opening of THE FOUR HORSEMEN PROJECT and sold-out circus spectacular 46 CIRCUS ACTS IN 45 MINUTES, with a hi-fi, lo-key electro-media extravaganza from New Zealand, INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODERN LIVING.

In IFML, award-winning Kiwi writer/performer Duncan Sarkies (writer for HBO's cult hit FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS and top-grossing NZ film SCARFIES) brings his bright wit and dark humour to stories of late-night urbanites who long for a little human contact. Playing different characters in different voices with the help of a vocoder, Sarkies is accompanied live by composer/musician Nic McGowan, who provides a soundtrack on a variety of obsolete electronic gizmos (including a theremin), against a huge backdrop of surveillence-style video of a city at night. Funny, sad, thoughtful and trippy, IFML is as hard to describe as it is to forget.

Tickets are $20/$17, and Metropasses for four tickets are $65,  available in advance through Intrepid Theatre at (250)383-2663 or intrepidtheatre.com.

COMING FEB: MY DAD MY DOG

MY DAD MY DOG (Feb 13-16) is the last show in our Jan-Feb 08 Season. A North Korean woman is convinced that her father has returned to her, reincarnated as her dog in this new show by Vancouver's amazing spectacle specialists, Boca del Lupo.  This is a funny and humane show about our relationship with animals, which combines music, animation, miniaturization, and live performance. Sherry J Yoon, James Fagin tait, and Billy Marchenski star, with direction by Jay Dodge and animation by Jay White.

Learn More at Boca's website...

METROPASSES STILL AVAILABLE!
Metropasses are just $65 (includes tax) and give you four admissions to the remaining shows in our season: Instruction for Modern Living and My Dad, My Dog. They can be shared between two or more folks, so it's a good deal if you're enjoying shows with a friend. (Sorry, 46 Circus Acts is totally sold out, even if you have a pass.)

Buy a Metropass at the door of the Metro on the night of the show, or give us a call (250)383-2663. You can also get tickets on-line at www.intrepidtheatre.com.
