Intrepid’s 2012 Season

Intrepid Theatre is well known for the Fringe and Uno Festivals, but at the beginning of the year we bring to the Metro Studio highly regarded international performers who are often touring to Canada’s prestigious stages.

The 2012 Season features some unmissable international & Canadian theatre including:

Josephina Joséphina

“The Chaliwaté Company combines verbal poetry and poetic movement that never ceases to surprise” (Voir, September 2008)

“A playful and poetic little jewel” all the way from Belgium, La Compagnie Chaliwaté’s  Joséphina is a shockingly beautiful, sexy, funny, and mysterious piece of physical theatre about Alfredo, a man alone, and the mysteriously absent woman whose memory infuses everything he touches.  This Amsterdam Fringe hit treads the line between reality and fantasy in a moving and mysterious story of obsession, love and loss.

Presented in association with theBelfry Theatre’s Spark Festival. SPARK Pass Holders get $11 off tickets to see Joséphina.

L’Orchestre d’Hommes-Orchestres Performs Tom Waits

Armed with the colourful repertoire of uncategorizable American music icon Tom Waits, Quebec City’s L’Orchestre d’Hommes – Orchestres (The One Man Band-Band) offer an event that is more of a carnival show or musical circus than just a concert. This bustling orchestra performs the music of Tom Waits using nearly 100 objects and invented instruments on stage, which they hammer and caress in madcap scenes of unbridled energy.

In this powerful tribute to the world of Waits, the performers remain faithful to the spirit of his work, but also turn it into a playing field for viewers. Mixing styles and adapting the arrangements, these six frenzied multi-instrumentalists perform in front of each other and over each other, trading instruments and vocals, putting their fingers between the strings, spokes in their wheels, ropes round their necks…
